Frequently Asked Questions

What do Tune developers and experts help with?

Tune developers and experts help with affiliate tracking setup, postbacks, API integrations, fraud controls, attribution fixes, custom reporting, and performance troubleshooting. Businesses usually hire Tune developers when the platform is powerful enough for their needs but too technical to configure and maintain properly in-house.

Tune offers enterprise-grade tracking that basic affiliate plugins miss:

(1) Multi-touch attribution – track the entire customer journey across multiple affiliate touchpoints, not just last-click attribution that under-credits your best partners.

(2) Sub-affiliate tracking – see performance down to individual traffic sources when affiliates run paid ads, allowing you to optimize beyond just “which affiliate” to “which affiliate’s which campaign.”

(3) Server-to-server postbacks – immune to cookie blocking and ad blockers that cause 20-40% tracking loss with pixel-based systems.

(4) Fraud detection rules – identify click fraud, bonus abuse, and suspicious conversion patterns before paying commissions.

(5) Real-time reporting – affiliates see their stats instantly instead of 24-hour delays, reducing support inquiries. We’ve seen companies switch to Tune and discover they were overpaying $10K-30K/month in fraudulent commissions that basic software missed.

Tune integrations vary by business complexity:

Essential integrations (2-3 weeks): Connect Tune to your ecommerce platform (Shopify, WooCommerce, custom cart) for conversion tracking, payment processor (Stripe, PayPal) for commission payouts, and CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot) for lead attribution.

Standard setup (4-6 weeks): Add marketing automation (ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo), analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Mixpanel), and accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero) for financial reconciliation.

Advanced architecture (8-12 weeks): Custom API integrations with subscription billing platforms (Sticky.io, Recurly), multi-brand operations requiring consolidated reporting, or complex commission logic involving multiple conversion events and lifetime value calculations. The integration quality determines whether affiliate tracking “just works” or requires constant manual reconciliation and troubleshooting.

Tune is enterprise-priced but justifiable at scale:

Platform cost: Tune starts around $600-1,000/month (vs $50-200/month for basic alternatives like Refersion or Post Affiliate Pro).

Implementation cost: Basic setup $5,000-10,000, complex implementation with custom integrations $15,000-30,000, enterprise multi-brand deployment $40,000-80,000.

Ongoing management: $1,500-4,000/month for optimization, fraud monitoring, and commission reconciliation.

ROI calculation: If you’re doing $2M/year through affiliates paying 15% commission ($300K/year), Tune’s fraud detection alone (catching 5-10% fraudulent commissions) saves $15K-30K annually. Better attribution preventing affiliate disputes saves another $10K-20K in support costs. The platform pays for itself when you’re managing $100K+/month in affiliate payouts.

Yes, this is where Tune excels over simpler platforms:

Complex commission logic: Tiered commissions based on volume (0-10 sales = 10%, 11-50 = 15%, 51+ = 20%), product-specific rates (different commissions for different SKUs), and performance bonuses (hit $10K in sales, get $1K bonus).

Multi-tier programs: Track sub-affiliates (your affiliates recruiting other affiliates) with cascading commissions primary affiliate earns 15%, referring affiliate earns 5%.

Hybrid compensation: Combine CPA (pay per acquisition), revenue share (% of sale), and recurring commissions (ongoing subscription revenue) in single program.

Custom approval workflows: Auto-approve affiliates meeting criteria, require manual review for high-risk traffic sources, or implement tiered approval levels. Basic affiliate software forces you into simple flat-rate commissions. Tune lets you build sophisticated partner economics that scale.

Three technical issues we fix constantly:

(1) Broken postback integration – server-to-server tracking fails silently when API credentials expire, endpoints change, or conversion parameters are mapped incorrectly, causing affiliates to show zero conversions while actual sales occur.

(2) Cookie vs server-side tracking conflicts – running both tracking methods simultaneously without proper deduplication causes double-counting or missed attributions depending on which fires first.

(3) Cross-domain tracking failures – checkout on different domain than landing page (shop.brand.com vs brand.com) breaks affiliate attribution unless properly configured with cross-domain parameters. Each problem costs money affiliates quit when their conversions don’t track, you overpay when double-counting inflates commissions, and disputes create support overhead. Expert setup prevents these issues before launch.

Timeline depends on program complexity:

Basic affiliate program (simple commission structure, single product line, Shopify/WooCommerce integration): 3-4 weeks.

Standard implementation (multiple commission tiers, CRM integration, custom affiliate portal, fraud rules setup): 6-8 weeks.

Complex deployment (multi-brand tracking, custom attribution models, subscription/LTV commissions, payment processor integration, migration from existing platform): 10-16 weeks.

Platform migration: Add 4-6 weeks to migrate affiliate data, historical commissions, and payout records from platforms like Impact, ShareASale, or custom-built systems. The bottleneck isn’t Tune configuration it’s defining your commission logic, approval workflows, and fraud prevention rules. Expert developers can build fast when requirements are clear, but most companies underestimate the strategic decisions required before technical implementation begins.

Ongoing management is critical for affiliate programs. Support tiers include:

(1) Technical monitoring ($1,000-2,000/month) tracking validation, integration monitoring, platform updates, affiliate onboarding support, basic troubleshooting.

(2) Active optimization ($2,500-4,500/month) fraud monitoring, commission structure testing, affiliate recruitment strategies, payout reconciliation, performance reporting, quarterly program audits.

(3) Full program management ($5,000-10,000/month) complete affiliate program operations including recruitment, vetting, fraud prevention, payout management, dispute resolution, strategic optimization. Affiliate programs aren’t “set and forget” tracking breaks when ecommerce platforms update, affiliates find loopholes requiring rule adjustments, fraud patterns evolve, and your business launches new products requiring commission updates. Budget 20-30% of initial implementation cost annually for minimum maintenance.

Zach Warshawsky

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Zach manages the operational side of our business and coordinates all the work done by our team. He designs technical architecture and always keeps an eye towards the future, making sure his solutions are scalable. He applies his skills in all sorts of fields, such as Project and Team Management, Sales Funnels, Web Technology, Split Testing, Automation and CRM.

If there’s one trait he shares with Henry, it’s passionate problem-solving. Although he has been working for over 25 years in Sales, Marketing, Management, Team Building and Customer Service, perhaps his relevant business credentials start even earlier. At 15, he started a business selling and installing car stereo systems before he even had a driver’s license. Armed with a reseller’s permit and a passion for business, he started down the path of entrepreneurship and hasn’t looked back since.

With four amazing children and a wonderful wife in his life, his goal is set: provide the best possible life for them that he can. To that end, he works hard on helping clients scale their businesses through the use of cutting edge digital marketing tools.

His weapon of choice on this quest is not a coincidence, for his knowledge of technology is certainly top-notch. This can sometimes be a blessing and a curse however, when the Apple Genius Bar can’t solve a friend’s problem, it’s Zach’s phone that gets lit up.

To unwind, he spends time with his children, goes on weekly dates with his wife and is passionate about crafting culinary art… he unwinds and loves creating amazing home-cooked meals for his friends and family!

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

One of the two men that started it all, Henry has a knack for judging character and managing the internal structure of our team. The go-to guy for when business owners hit a roadblock, he is well known for offering unique, scalable solutions to any issue that presents itself.

He’s a born problem-solver, breaking any seemingly impossible task into achievable actionable items.  He has successfully helped dozens of businesses expand to the 7-8 figure level, by designing and implementing extensible, supportive and responsive infrastructure that his clients could then leverage to their fullest advantage.

At work, he loves helping our customers make their dreams a reality, taking businesses to the next step of success, guiding them all the while. Outside of work, he enjoys a good meal with friends and a nice Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. He also likes travelling with his family and exploring different cultures and finding out more about our world. Having dreamt of becoming a soccer player when he grew up, he has since traded that sport for another, namely golf, which he partakes in whenever he gets the chance.

Little known fact, he won the Atomic Spicy Food Competition when most of the people quit after just a couple of bites. Scientists have yet to come up with an explanation.
